The following is from an email Steve McClure, AZGFD Shooting Sports Coordinator sent out on March 18, 2020

Coaches,

Here’s the official statement regarding our SCTP program and Commissioner’s Cups.

Due to current conditions and CDC guidance about events and gatherings, the Department and its volunteers will pause all in-person activities with Arizona’s SCTP until further notice. AZGFD’s top priority is the safety of staff, volunteers, and community partners.

At this time, the Commissioners’ Cups, scheduled for 4/11, 4/18 & 4/19/2020 are on hold. The situation will be assessed as those events get closer.

The SSSF sent an announcement 3/16, noting these two key points:

  1. a) Refer to your state advisor regarding local events, and
  2. b) “We will be waiving the rule in each program that states team members must attend a minimum of six (6) team practice sessions to be eligible to shoot in State, Regional, or National Championship events representing that team.”

Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we navigate this challenging situation. We will keep you posted as we receive more information.

Respectfully,
Steven McClure | Shooting Sports Coordinator
